Nissan recalls Navara models

Passenger airbag issues force Nissan to recall ute models

Nissan Motor Co. Australia has recalled a number of D22 Navara models over issues with the fitted airbags.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, “certain passenger airbag inflators may allow moisture to enter the airbag inflator causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate.”

“Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag,” the notice says.

“Abnormal passenger airbag deployment or metal fragment scatter may pose a hazard to the occupants of the vehicle.”

Sold nationally, Nissan says owners of affected vehicles will be contacted once availability of parts is confirmed.

It will then invite customers to contact their nearest dealership to organise to have an inspection and repair at no cost.

Affected vehicles have VINs of:

JN1CPUD22A0030007 to JN1CPUD22A0033519, JN1***Y61A0001716 to JN1***Y61A0681762.
