Penske recalls Western Star models

Recall affects an unknown number of Western Star 4700 models

Penske Commercial Vehicles (PCV) has recalled Western Star 4700 8×4 Tandem Steer truck models over steering gear issues.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, “the bracket attaching the secondary steering gear to the chassis may fracture if the bolt tension is not regularly checked.”

“If the bracket attaching the secondary steering gear to the chassis fractures there may be a loss of control of the vehicle, potentially causing an accident,” the notice says.

Sold nationally, the affected vehicles will require an inspection and repair from a Western Star dealership.

PCV says it will be contacting customers by mail or email to arrange the details.
