Portable Waeco fridges recalled

Models utilised by truck drivers recalled over heat issues

Dometic Australia has recalled its Waeco CF-40 and CF-50 portable compressor fridge/freezer models over issues with the controller.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, “a controller failure may occur during use of the product.”

“If the failure occurs it may cause the controller to overheat and partially melt, becoming a burn risk to consumers,” the notice says.

Sold nationally between October 20 and December 5, 2016, Dometic says the affected models should be disconnected from its power source and stop being used immediately.

The affected models were sold at BCF, Ray’s Outdoors, Anaconda, Seabreeze Industries, Burrell Outdoors, Bairnsdale Electrics, Tackle World & Outdoors Mandurah, Auto One Australia and Freddy’s Fishing & Outdoors.

The company advises customers to return the product to nearest service agent for repair.

The details of impacted serial numbers are available here.
