Toyota Tundra models recalled

Vehicle importer Performax International has announced the pickups may need parts replaced

Performax International has recalled 213 Toyota Tundra models over a possible unsafe thread engagement.

According to an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, "it has been found that out of specification adjustments can be made to the tie rods during a wheel alignment."

"This can cause them to be adjusted to an unsafe thread engagement between the tie rod and the steering rack," the notice says.

"The unsafe thread engagement between the tie rod and the rack may cause steering vibration, which may pose a hazard to the driver."

Imported and converted by Performax International, the affected models were sold nationally between June 28, 2012 and April 29, 2016.

The company says it will be contacting customers by mail. Those affected will need to contact their nearest dealership to arrange to have the tie rod extensions replaced or contact Performax International to arrange a third-party repairer.
