Scania launches new fleet performance app

Scania One can provide data to help with fleet planning and maintenance

Scania’s new fleet performance app is being described as a “condensed” version of its fleet management software.

But apart from offering an abridged version of the software, Scania One also provides performance trend information including fuel consumption and wear.

The app has been launched at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.

Scania One features an open customer platform for existing and upcoming Scania services plus, external content in the Android tablet device.

Based on technology provider Ericsson’s software, the app will help operators in fleet planning, offering information on position and needed servicing.

Using its purpose-built tablet launcher, drivers will be able to access all the apps to which their transport company subscribes.

Some of Scania One’s initial features include:

  • Check before drive – a digital checklist for guided daily inspections of brand-neutral vehicle and trailer status with time-saving opportunities to continuously record observations as the basis for service planning.
  • Scania assistance – allows drivers to digitally contact Scania’s assistance service and transmits position for speedy remedial roadside and workshop action.
  • Guide me – an interactive tool with augmented reality functionality to guide drivers through the features.

Additionally, with the mobile device camera, dashboard symbols could be scanned to provide information in text or video.

The app is compatible with the cloud-based platform of Volkswagen Truck & Bus.

“Scania One is our framework for seamlessly and efficiently integrating both current and coming services in a single environment,” Scania executive VP sales and marketing Christian Levin says.

“I am convinced that these services, taken together, will significantly contribute towards greater efficiency and thereby higher revenues for transport companies.”
