Parking lever issue sparks recall of several 300 Series models worldwide
Hino is facing yet another recall of its 300 Series trucks, this time over a parking brake lever fault.
The notice on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) website states that the lever “may not engage correctly when the lever is pulled up because the teeth in the ratchet mechanism may balance on the tooth tops”.
“The contact may be released by vibration, potentially causing the lever to be released due to inadequate spring force inside the ratchet mechanism and the vehicle may start to move, posing an accident hazard,” the notice warns.
The recall affects a total of 9,663 vehicles sold worldwide.
At this stage, it is unclear how many of these vehicles were sold in Australia.
Owners will be contacted by direct mail.
Affected vehicles should be taken to authorised Hino dealers for inspection and repair.

This is the second recall affecting Hino 300 models in less than a month after an airbag issue resulted in recall of over 2,800 trucks.
