Over 360 Benz trucks recalled

Actros, Axor, Arocs and Atego models sold between June 2012 and July 2017 affected

A recall has been issued of a total of 362 Mercedes-Benz trucks sold in Australia.

The recall affects Benz Actros, Axor, Arocs and Atego models sold between June 13, 2012 and July 10, 2017.

“A weld seam has been improperly applied to out-of-line axle housings during the production process,” a notice on Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) states.

“This may cause oil leakage and cracking of the rear axle. In the worst case breakage can occur, causing the vehicle to stop during use, posing an accident risk to the driver and other road occupants.”

Owners are advised to take their vehicle to an authorised Mercedes-Benz truck dealership for inspection and repair.
