Australian-made DAF hits the road

Cahill Transport takes delivery of first locally made DAF CF85

The first locally-produced DAF CF85 has been presented to its new owners – and Paccar hopes it will be the first of many

Taking up production slots occupied solely by Kenworths for the past 47 years, the first DAF CF85 prime mover to be produced in Australia has been delivered to its new owners.

Built at Paccar ’s Bayswater manufacturing facility in Victoria, the DAF trucks were delivered to Cahill Transport directors Michael and Daniel Cahill last week.

Paccar Australia says it hopes the local production of the CF85 510Hp prime mover will help it provide DAF buyers with higher levels of customisation through local engineering input and greater cost savings through local parts sourcing.

“Paccar Australia is committed to providing new investment and manufacturing capabilities in Australia, and this initiative is backed by our parent company which sends a clear message to our dealer network and customer base that DAF Trucks are here to stay,” the company says.
