Searches for prime movers up – but enquiries down – in the first eight months of 2020

Searches for prime movers for sale on the Bauer Media Group truck classifieds network were up 5 per cent in the first eight months of the year, new data reveals.

Over 1,000 prime movers – from Atkinsons to Whites – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising BusNews.com.au, Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au, TradeFarmMachinery.co.au and TradePlantEquipment.com.au.

In the period January 1–August 31, 2020, searches for prime movers for sale were 5 per cent higher than the same time last year, while enquiries were down 3 per cent.

Leading the way was Freightliner, which experienced a 41 per cent lift in searches in the period; ahead of UD (+22 per cent), Mack (+19 per cent), Sterling (+16 per cent), Mercedes-Benz (+15 per cent), Kenworth (+12 per cent) and Western Star (+12 per cent).

Conversely, Hino (-50 per cent), Isuzu (-37 per cent), International (-30 per cent), Scania (-23 per cent) and MAN (-22 per cent) experienced declines in buyer interest.

Ford (+400 per cent) and MAN (+400 per cent), meanwhile, generated the highest growth in enquiries in the period; while International (+143 per cent), Fuso (+100 per cent), UD (+50 per cent), Isuzu (+33 per cent), Scania (+18 per cent), Iveco (+18 per cent) and Mack (+7 per cent) also attracted increased attention.

In contrast, Mercedes-Benz (-52 per cent), Hino (-40 per cent) and Volvo (-31 per cent) garnered less buyer interest in the period.
