Hyundai Australia reveals new Staria-Load van

Big Korean farewells iconic iLoad with bigger replacement

Available this month, the range is available in either a 2-seat van or 5-seat crew cab configuration, with the option of a liftback or twin swing tailgate.

“With an all-new platform, space age design and cutting-edge standard features, the all new Staria-Load builds on the strong legacy of the long lived iLoad to bring a bold new vision to the van segment,” Hyundai said.

“Staria-Load delivers all the dependability of iLoad coupled with a larger, more usable cargo area, greatly improved performance and a vast array of advanced safety and convenience technology not offered by the competition.”

The van’s cargo area is larger and more usable than outgoing iLoad, growing in all dimensions – cargo length 2.607m v. 2.375m; width 1.640m v. 1.620m; height 1.436m v. 1.340m.

Access has been improved to load Euro standard pallets via the side doors thanks to wider sliding door openings, with space to fit three full euro pallets (1,200mm x 800mm) or two Australian standard pallets (1,165mm x 1,165mm).

There are also eight tie-down points throughout, a variety of mounting points for accessories and felt board trim in key areas where objects may damage the interior walls.

The vehicle manufacturer stated that Staria-Load’s new platform and layout has made the space more usable, increasing key dimensions for a cargo area that can fit three Euro pallets, with an increased sliding-door opening-width for side forklift access.

“Staria-Load has been built from the ground up upon the same N3 passenger car platform as the latest 2021 Santa Fe,” Hyundai said.

“This platform is lighter and more rigid than outgoing iLoad, which combined with a new FWD layout, provides car like refinement of the handling characteristics and ride quality, creating a more approachable and familiar driving experience without sacrificing performance.

“While Staria-Load has moved to a passenger-car platform and FWD drivetrain, performance and dependability are better than ever.

“A solid rear axle and leaf spring rear suspension provide a strong set up for carrying heavy loads reliably, while the new platform and powertrain help increase braked towing capacity to 2.5 tonnes.”
