The issue relates to the cooling fan.

“On all affected vehicles the cooling fan can continue to run even when the ignition is switched-off,” the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) alert states.

“If the defect occurs it will result in a flat battery and the inability to start the vehicle without roadside assistance.”

Volkswagen Group Australia to affected owners of the vehicles.

The notice comes after a Ford VM Transit recall was issued early this month, relating to the rear brake pipe to axle securing bolt.

It concerns vans made between 2008 and 2010.

The bolt that secures the brake pipe bracket to the rear axle may not be manufactured to specifications and could loosen over time,” the notice states.

“If the defect occurs there may be failure of the rear brake pipe, loss of brake fluid, and significantly reduced brake performance. This poses a hazard to the driver and other road users.”

A letter is being sent to affected owners. Ford advises owners to drive with caution and at moderate speed until the inspection and rectification of the vehicle has occurred.
