On Monday 24 February works on the next instalment to repair the road pavement on the 1.1 kilometre section of highway will begin.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) regional director Cassandra French says the next step of developments will involve milling and replacing the existing road surface to improve safety and extend the life of the road.
“This essential maintenance and important improvements will increase safety for motorists, extend the life of the road and cut down maintenance costs for this stretch,” she says.
This latest work follows the installation of median crossovers in November to facilitate the upcoming pavement improvement work.
The works are expected to take around eight weeks to complete and will be carried out Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, and Saturday from 8am to 1pm, weather permitting.
Northbound lanes will be closed throughout the work, with a contraflow and reduced speeds in place for the safety of motorists and workers.
For the duration of the work, Bowning Road (West) will be closed with detours in place to direct traffic to the Bowning Road (East) intersection with the Hume Highway.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control, and allow an additional 10 minutes travel time.
