The Snowy Monaro Regional Council has revealed work is starting today to build a new heavy and light vehicle parking area along the Snowy Mountains Highway.
With site preparations completed, the areas will be constructed from today in Adaminaby to allow heavy vehicles to stop along the highway.
A 40km/h roadworks speed limit will be in place from today for the duration of the project, which will see two new parking areas built for trucks to the west of Denison Street.

The existing light vehicle parking area at the Baker Street Playground to the east of Denison Street will also be completely overhauled to accommodate caravans.
The light vehicle parking will remain open during the work’s first stages, which starts with the new truck and long vehicle parking areas west of Denison Street.
Once completed, the works will shift to the light vehicle and caravan parking area.
The NSW and federal governments have co-funded a grant for the improvements through its Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.
