Truck photography hobby takes couple all around the country

It’s not always just trucks that like making appearances at the shows, but people too.

Melissa & Mark Eldridge of Makin’ a Mile Photography are no strangers to the show circuit.

Their photography hobby sees them travelling all around Australia to check out the trucks, catch up with friends and snap a few pics too.

“I’ve been taking pictures of trucks since I was a young fella with a Kodak camera,” Mark says.

“I’ve always loved trucks as a kid, and then I got into working with them and driving them.

“When all my mates started buying their first trucks, I would always take photos of them.

“I see it as history.”

Mark says there is so much to learn when looking back at pictures of the transport industry.

“It’s good to look back on in years to come. They can tell a lot of history, like how many owners the trucks have had through different paint jobs, where they’ve been and what they’ve done,” he says.

What started off as a personal interest, has turned into a Facebook page with 2,300 followers.

“We end up going to truck shows nearly every month.”

“I go out to Alexandra every year, Castlemaine and Tooradin. And then I do Lancefield, Echuca and all of them.”

Mark’s hobby has him leaving his home in Gippsland to travel around and he couldn’t be happier.

“I travel all over the place and it’s just been amazing.”
