Trucks took centre stage in Beaufort’s big day out

What’s better than a wholesome family day in a rural, Aussie town, where dazzling trucks and cars stand tall and proud?

While truck lovers were most definitely catered for at the Beaufort Car and Truck Show on March 29, everyone was welcome.

For the daredevils, there was freestyle motocross, market stalls, a kid’s corner with pony rides and face painting, while the live entertainment provided an extra spark to the day.

The show’s history began with a small, passionate group of local footy club members, with an idea to bring something new to the town.

“Trucks are a huge part of Beaufort, we’re right on the Western Freeway and there’s lots of trucking in town, as well as lots of local cars,” event organiser Geoff Carnes says.

“We had our first show in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. We thought this show could raise some dollars for our Beaufort Crows footy club.”

There were plenty of awards to hand out to these stunners

Since then, each year, the Beaufort Truck Show has drawn crowds from near and far.

Geoff says while this year’s truck numbers may have been a little lower than previous years, the quality of vehicles on display more than made up for it.

“The 909 Kenworth that took home Truck of the Show was an absolute pearler,” Geoff says.

“But I’ve always been a fan of the old SARs and W’s, and there were quite a few of them on the day.”

With over 180 entries between cars and trucks, well over 1,000 people made their way through the Beaufort gates, and in return Geoff says they had an “awful lot of positive feedback” from the day.

One of the standout moments from this year’s show for Geoff, was featuring Fraser Transport’s fleet.

“Timmy Fraser and his boys have been a pivotal part of the show year after year,” he says.

“A year and a bit ago, they lost one of their drivers to illness who was a big supporter of the show. He used to get the boys all rallied up and get the trucks ready, so this tribute was important to me.

“Overall, it was a good turnout of high quality trucks, with a good bunch of fellows that were there, so I’m feeling pretty pleased with this year’s event.”

This grey stunner would have turned a few heads

This personal moment of honouring fellow truckies reflects the strong bonds of community the show has cultivated since it begun.

Geoff says this show gets the club, volunteers and the community up and about, bringing pride to the Beaufort Crows and their town.

This show also brings an economic boost to Beaufort, with local businesses, pubs, local shops and service stations seeing an uptick in visitors.

“The fundraiser we host for our local footy is so important and much needed, every bit counts,” Geoff says.

“This event showcases what a great community Beaufort is… So yeah, I’m pretty proud of this little town.”
