TruckSafe has developed a flexible, proactive risk-based approach to chain of responsibility (CoR), safety, and compliance for its 180 members.
This new system will be the first industry-led scheme to offer a comprehensive CoR safety management system. It will also introduce an owner-driver SMS tailored for individuals operating their own vehicles.
TruckSafe Chair Paul Fellows emphasised the transformative nature of the new SMSs.
“Members will employ best practices for identifying and managing CoR risks while customising policies and procedures to fit their specific business activities, moving away from traditional one-size-fits-all compliance methods,” he says.
He noted that accredited TruckSafe members already meet many SMS requirements, and those eligible for the single vehicle owner-driver SMS will find the requirements less demanding.
